“Pacta Sunt Sarvanda”It is a latin phrase. It etymologically means “agreement must be kept” It means agreement/ treaties are legally binding. With reference to international agreements, “every treaty in force is binding upon the parties to it and must be performed by them bonafidely (good faith). It is a basic and arguably the oldest principle of civil law and international law. Pacta sunt servanda is directly referred to in many international agreements governing treaties, including the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, 1969. |
